Papakura Intermediate Block 2 Refurbishment
The AMS Combined Block 2 DQLS and ILE Upgrade at Papakura Intermediate involved a comprehensive refurbishment of the existing teaching block, which had seen little change over the years and was well overdue for an upgrade.
The project went far beyond a simple refresh of finishes. Existing teaching spaces were reconfigured, new connections were created between rooms, and shared areas were opened up to provide a more flexible and connected learning environment. Toilets and other facilities throughout the block were also upgraded to better meet the needs of students and staff.
The building’s power, data and lighting systems were completely stripped out and renewed, followed by new flooring, joinery, plasterboard, Autex and interior finishes throughout. These upgrades were carefully integrated to create a cohesive, modernised space while making the most of the existing building.
The result is a teaching block that feels and functions very differently from what was there before, while retaining and building on the existing structure. The before-and-after photos highlight the significant transformation and the impact of the upgrade.
The project was completed on schedule and under budget.
